Just a quick note of appreciation. I'm using your software for a student I teach who has many learning difficulties, but he is thrilled (and motivated) to be working with your software. Please continue the excellent work, and best of luck going forward.
Ed, Canada.

We are a homeschool family and we have been using your site for nearly 10 months now...we think you're great!

Keep up the fantastic work you do!
Warmest Regards
Sarah, New Zealand

I have been using your programs for years now and am really glad for a chance to say how FAB they are. They are better than any other I've found for educational purposes and a fraction of the price. All the kids who have used them at my school LOVE them and I think you are a very very clever man!!

How To Play

Choose The Number Of Players

On the first screen you will see 4 buttons with 1 to 4 Players on them. Click the button for the number of players playing the game. Just above the buttons are yellow name boxes where you can add names for your players. Just click and highlight the text and type in the names. These will then appear in the game. If you have saved a game before and want to finish it, then click the Load A Saved Game button. If you choose Load A Saved Game then a small window will appear showing a list of previously saved files. Either double left click the file name or single click and choose Open. Opening a file will automatically take you to the place in the game where it was last saved including the ball position and whose go it was.

Once you have chosen the number of players and if you wanted to, edited the players names, you will be taken to the first hole of the game. The idea of the game is to putt the ball into each of 9 holes in the least number of goes.

The Holes

There are 9 holes in this game, each one a little trickier than the last and include obstacles such as water and windmills as well as tricky walls. You will find that the mouse pointer turns into an aiming cross hair and a white line connects it to the centre of the golf ball. This white line is both the direction of the shot and the power. The longer you drag the aiming cross hair from the ball, the longer the line gets and the more powerful the shot when taken. To make your shot just click the left mouse button. Moving the cross hair closer to the ball makes the line shorter and your shot more gentle. When you click the left mouse button the ball will move in the direction of the white line and at the speed you chose by however long you made the line.

The ball will bounce off the walls and any objects. You can use this to help you in predicting where the ball will end up. When you encounter water, you must strike the ball with enough force to clear it, otherwise you will end up in the water. When this happens the ball will automatically be placed just before the water obstacle. On the windmill holes you must hit the ball under the front of the windmill and miss the revolving sails. If you hit the sails, your ball will be bounced back. You must also make sure your ball goes in the narrow opening under the windmill. On the hole with a duck on the water, your ball will be bounced back if you hit the moving duck.

The names of each of the players playing and their scores are shown in the four corners of the game. Also whose go it is and the Par of the hole will be shown at the top of the playing area before each person's go. The Par of the hole is how many hits, or strokes as they are called, it should take to get the golf ball into the hole. At the end of each hole a progress Scoreboard is shown which records the players name/s, how many strokes they have taken so far and their par score. If you score more than the Par level then you par figure will be so many above what it should be i.e. "over par". If you make less strokes than the par level, your par score will be so many stokes "under par". For instance the first hole is Par 2 which means you should only need two strokes to get the ball in the hole. If you take 4 strokes then your score is 4 strokes and your par score is 2 (2 over par). If you only take one stroke however, your score would be 1 stroke and your par score would be -1 (1 under par). These figures accumulate over the course of nine holes culminating in a final figure under or over par. The less strokes you take the further up the leader board you will be. The leader board or League Table will be shown and include your score at the end of nine holes. It can also be accessed at any time by clicking on View League Table in the top menu under Options.
