Just a quick note of appreciation. I'm using your software for a student I teach who has many learning difficulties, but he is thrilled (and motivated) to be working with your software. Please continue the excellent work, and best of luck going forward.
Ed, Canada.

We are a homeschool family and we have been using your site for nearly 10 months now...we think you're great!

Keep up the fantastic work you do!
Warmest Regards
Sarah, New Zealand

I have been using your programs for years now and am really glad for a chance to say how FAB they are. They are better than any other I've found for educational purposes and a fraction of the price. All the kids who have used them at my school LOVE them and I think you are a very very clever man!!

Jigsaw Maker
Colours and size of screenshot reduced to fit page

Recommended Minimum System: PC, Windows 95 or better e.g. XP, Vista, Windows 7, (Mac users click here), 16MB Ram, Pentium 166 and sound card.

Make your own 15 and 24 piece jigsaws from the 10 pictures provided or from your own on your computer. Once made you can do the jigsaws within the program. An added extra is, if you are very careful with a pair of scissors, you can print out the pieces onto paper to be stuck to card or straight onto thin card if your printer allows.

Program includes an uninstall facility. Compressed file size - 902 KB.

Make a 15 or 24 piece jigsaw from the sample pictures provided or one of your own. Then do the jigsaws in the program. Most picture formats are supported i.e. bmp, jpg, gif, pcx etc. The jigsaws are only 300 pixels wide by 200 high so the program will resize your picture to that. Please note that the program saves your picture as a puzzle separately in the Jigsaw program folder and will not alter the original picture. Please also note that each time you create a new puzzle, this will overwrite the old pieces so as not to take up lots of disk space. An added option is that you can print out your puzzles so that you can make your own paper/card ones.

How To Use

The first time you run this program you will get a pop up message advising that your first job is to create a puzzle by clicking the Make A New Puzzle button. This message will only appear the first time the program is run as once a puzzle is made it will be available for any future sessions of the program.

Main Menu Screen

On the first screen you have three buttons Play 15 Piece Jigsaw, Play 24 Piece Jigsaw and Make A New Puzzle. Once you have made your first puzzle you can click any of these buttons to start. If you choose Play 15 Piece Jigsaw then you are taken straight to the 15 Piece Jigsaw (see below) screen, whereas clicking Play 24 Piece Jigsaw will take you to the 24 Piece Jigsaw screen. Clicking Make A New Puzzle will take you to that screen which is explained below.

Play 15 Piece Jigsaw Screen

On this screen you will see a square in the centre where the puzzle will be made and 15 grey pieces around it. Move your mouse pointer over a piece to show the picture. Left click, hold and drag to move a piece over the centre square. When a piece is in the correct place in the centre square it will drop. If you let go of the left mouse button and the piece is in the wrong place it will pop back to its position beside the centre square. When all the pieces are correctly placed a button will appear at the bottom asking if you want another go. Clicking it will take you back to the Main Menu screen

Play 24 Piece Jigsaw Screen

On this screen you will see a square in the centre where the puzzle will be made and 24 grey pieces around it. Move your mouse pointer over a piece to show the picture. Left click, hold and drag to move a piece over the centre square. When a piece is in the correct place in the centre square it will drop. This is harder to do than the 15 piece puzzle as you have to be more precise in placing the pieces. If you let go of the left mouse button and the piece is in the wrong place it will pop back to its position beside the centre square. When all the pieces are correctly placed a button will appear at the bottom asking if you want another go. Clicking it will take you back to the Main Menu screen

If you are having difficulty doing any puzzle, a good tip is to start with the corner pieces and then all the edge pieces before doing the middle parts.

Make A New Jigsaw Screen

On this screen you will see a Click To Load A Picture button at the top. Click this and a window will appear allowing you to choose a picture from the ones shown. This is a normal Open dialogue window so you can browse through your hard disk and other drives on your computer/network. It will only show pictures that can be loaded by my program which should be most if not all types of picture format you have. Double click the picture name or single click it and choose the Open button.

The picture you choose should then appear in the centre square. If it is larger than 300 pixels wide by 200 high, then it will be resized accordingly. A Click To Make A Jigsaw button should have now appeared below the picture. Click this and watch as both a 24 and 15 picture puzzle is made. Progress is shown by a red bar and percentage counter. When it has finished it will say Jigsaw Complete and 2 new buttons will appear inviting you to try your new 15 or 24 piece puzzle. These buttons take you to the screens described above. Alternatively you can click the Click To Try Another Picture button to make another jigsaw.

Print Out A Jigsaw Screen

An added option with my program is the ability to print out any puzzle you create. Select Print out 15 or 24 piece jigsaw in the top menu under Options. Follow the instructions carefully to print the picture on one side of the paper and a template on the other. Carefully cut around the template lines to make your very own puzzle pictures. You could also stick the picture and a backing template onto to some thin card before cutting it out.

There are three buttons at the bottom of the screen - Print, Printer Setup and Main Menu. Print, prints out on the top half of a piece of A4 (US Letter) sized paper. You can enlarge the puzzle to almost full page if you select Printer Setup and choose the Landscape print option available on most printers. This will stretch the pieces across the whole of the page but may distort them a little. Remember to set the printer settings back to normal when you have finished. Clicking the Main Menu button takes you back to the opening screen. The extra enlarge option tick box, prints the picture out at roughly twice the size.

I've been a happy Olltwit user for years - I downloaded several of your programs back in '04, for my older son to use. Now it's time for my younger son to use them, and I've come back to your site to find 1) I owe you, and 2) you have more great stuff. I'm happy to pay up because I know the quality of your programs.
