Just a quick note of appreciation. I'm using your software for a student I teach who has many learning difficulties, but he is thrilled (and motivated) to be working with your software. Please continue the excellent work, and best of luck going forward.
Ed, Canada.

We are a homeschool family and we have been using your site for nearly 10 months now...we think you're great!

Keep up the fantastic work you do!
Warmest Regards
Sarah, New Zealand

I have been using your programs for years now and am really glad for a chance to say how FAB they are. They are better than any other I've found for educational purposes and a fraction of the price. All the kids who have used them at my school LOVE them and I think you are a very very clever man!!

Robbie To The Rescue
Colours and size of screenshot reduced to fit page

Recommended Minimum System: Pentium II PC, Windows 95 or better e.g. XP, Vista, Windows 7, (Mac users click here), 32MB Ram.

A simple platform game for Christmas featuring Robbie The Reindeer. Evil Blitzen has bought up a job lot of old BBC daleks to help him in his latest money making scheme. One by one he is capturing Santa's Elves, bubble wrapping them in his cloud base workshop and selling them to Supermarkets world-wide. His slogan is "Own a real live Elf" and he believes he will corner the market on realistic action figures this Christmas. Who is going to stop him, Robbie of course. Rudolph's son must find and magically release the elves back to Santa's Grotto.

The character of Robbie the Reindeer was created by the BBC's Animation Unit in Bristol, with BBC Worldwide in association with Comic Relief. Comic Relief is a UK registered charity, number 326568 committed to helping end poverty and social injustice in the UK and Africa. For more information visit www.comicrelief.com. Robbie the Reindeer in "Hooves Of Fire" was an animated film made for Comic Relief and shown on the BBC in Christmas 1999. Profits from the film and sale of the book and video go to Comic Relief. A new film "Robbie The Reindeer in The Legend Of The Lost Tribe" is due to be shown this Christmas 2002 and the video will be on sale on 26th December 2002.

This latest film with a star-studded voice cast featuring David Attenborough, Rob Brydon, Steve Coogan, Harry Enfield, Ricky Gervais, Jeff Goldblum, Jane Horrocks, Sean Hughes, Ardal O'Hanlon, Alistair McGowan, Natalie Imbruglia, Paul Whitehouse and The League Of Gentlemen makes Robbie's adventures "must-see" family viewing this Christmas.

PLEASE NOTE this is not a BBC or Comic Relief game and has nothing to do with either organisation. However, if you like my game please consider making a donation to Comic Relief or purchasing the "Hooves Of Fire" or latest video. I can highly recommend "Hooves Of Fire" and I bet the latest will be well worth watching too.

How To Play

On the first screen click the Play button or press the Space Bar on your keyboard to start. The next screen tells the story behind the game and you can skip this by clicking the Skip Story button or again pressing the Space Bar. You will then be taken to the first scene of the game at the cliffs.

Control

To control Robbie use the Arrow Keys on your keyboard. To move to the right, press the Right arrow and to move to the left, the Left arrow. To jump press the Shift key on your keyboard, that's the up facing arrows just above the Ctrl keys not the up arrow of the arrow keys or number pad. In the Clouds scene you can climb the ladder on the right of the screen by pressing the Up arrow key. To play the game using a joypad/joystick click on Game in the top menu and choose Players. In the column under 1, click on the square next to Joystick 1 or Joystick 2. You can also change the keys used on the keyboard for control by clicking the cross in the Keyboard square and then the button next to the left right etc., movement options.

To release a caged Elf simply move over the cage and he will be transported magically back to Santa's Grotto. Pick up and eat cabbages along the way to build up your gas level shown at the top of the screen. Release the gas by pressing the F key on your keyboard. Daleks that get in the way of released gas will be dematerialised. If you come into contact with a Dalek you will receive an electric shock and a loss of points. Score points, shown in the top right hand corner of the screen, by eliminating the Daleks (100 points) and releasing Elves (500 Points). If you should ever find that Robbie gets stuck between ledges and you cannot move him then press the Escape ESC key on your keyboard to return him to the last safe place he was. If you fall off any platforms during the game you lose a life, shown in the top left corner of the screen. You will start again with a new life where you last fell. Losing all lives ends the game and if you have a high score you will automatically be asked to enter your name for the High Score Table.

The Scenes

Scene 1 - The Cliffs

Here, Robbie needs to jump from ledge to ledge releasing Elves and removing Daleks. Some ledges require you to be just before the edge to jump to the next. Some need you to be right at the very edge and some just a little over the edge to make a successful jump. Get to the top of the cliffs and move to the right under the elevator tube to move to the next level.

Scene 2 - The Clouds

In this level the Elves are being sucked up the transportation tube to the Cloud Workshop. Release waiting Elves in the side tubes and jump across the main up tube gap. You will have to remove Daleks along the way. Over to the right of the tubes is a ladder to gain access to the upper tubes. Climb this ladder using the Up arrow key on your keyboard. When you reach the end at the top left of the screen you may receive bonus points. Move under the elevator tube to be transported into the next level.

Scene 3 - The Cloud Workshop

In this level the Elves are being sucked up the transportation tube and then along into the bubble wrapping machine ready for sale. Release waiting Elves on the ledges and move between them to reach the top right of the screen. On the final ledge you can jump to the blue cable above but keep clear of the moving grab as if it touches Robbie on its way to the machine, he will be caught and sent through the bubble wrap machine. Fortunately he will be rejected and dropped back into Scene 1, The Cliffs. Once you are on the blue cable move to the left and release gas into the machine's air intake. This will destabilise the machine and eventually should blow it up. You will find that you will have to be grabbed and rejected back to Scene 1, The Cliffs, to come back again and try to knock out the bubble wrap machine.
